Airport Construction

Over the last few months I've seen the surveyors out at the airport, and then eventually the signs went up saying to expect delays, that there would be "alternate routes" for those traveling around the outside service road.

Since there isn't much traffic, I wondered how much of a delay could possibly occur.

For the last few days I have found out. Hours. That's how many. Taking a four lane road and lowering it to two lanes takes an otherwise empty road that rolls along at 45 mph and turns it into a parking lot. Actually, driving through most parking lots is faster.

I don't know how long the project will last. In the USA, we seem to drag them out for years longer than necessary. But hopefully once it is done, it will be back up to 45 mph again.
